Humpback Whales of the Salish Sea

UPDATE !!!

Welcome The Whales Celebration!!

APRIL 15-16

Attached below is the docking plan the Langley Harbormaster has sent. We have been able to successfully tie all STYC registered boats in the marina, including all those on the Waitlist!!!!   Not an easy task.

Plan to arrive to the Marina early Saturday, in time to tie-up & attend the town's "Welcome The Whales" Parade at 1:30 pm, followed by the blessing of the whales & various town festivities.

OR.... Grab your binoculars & point your bow directly toward the eastern shores of Hat/Gedney Island (between Everett & Langley) for a relaxing, casual (and respectful) look for our native returning grey & humpback whales. The choice is yours.

There will be a potluck & BYOB happy hour on the outter "D" dock picnic tables at 5 pm. Dinner is your own choice. Make sure to check with local restaurants for their reservation policy's if you plan to eat out. Later in the evening may include a walk-a-bout up to local Spy Hop watering hole, or perhaps a bit of boat socializing.

Springtime Greetings!

NOW is the time of year we are graced with the presence of magnificent Humpback & Gray Whales!! Please join us Saturday April 15th for the STYC Langley Whale overnight cruise. You have the option of tying up at the marina for the Welcome The Whales Parade & blessing on Saturday, explore the lovely village of Langley with its Whale Center Museum, restaurants, shops, brewery, and spectacular views of Possession Sound. Or spend the afternoon gently floating off Hat/Gedney Island to eye-spy our annual visitation of up to 14 known returning magnificent Gray whales that feed in our area on their way up to Alaska. Or perhaps Kayak amongst these gentle giants of the Salish Sea. Langley provides for a fabulous weekend get-away with all the fun & mother nature one could ask for. Whatever you choose as your interest we will meet as a club for a dockside potluck Happy Hour. Time will depend on the weather & how long those who are out whale spying would like to stay floating. Always stay tuned for the updates before heading out on the cruise.

Langley Marina offers guest moorage, restrooms, showers, accessible parking, beach access, 2 beach-side grills & a separate kayak rental business (see below). Harbormasters office 306-221-1120, VHF ch #66A. STYC will be standing by on Ch #72. Boats will have the full length of both D & E linear docks. Space will be at a premium so we will be creating a waitlist after the first 14 boats. We will notify you with further instructions. **Please be prepared to raft-up along the dock.

RSVP on our STYC webpage by Friday April 7th. Include your vessel name, length, beam, draft, tie preference so that we can forward the logistics on to The Langley Marina in time for them to lay-out our docking plan. That said, you will be asked to register with us, but pay Langley directly for your moorage.

Langley pricing:     $1.35/foot/day includes: power, water, WiFi     Exp: 40 ft = $54
