Sloop Tavern Yacht Club and Shilshole Bay Yacht Club are pleased to announce that the helm of the Snowbird Race Series has been handed over to STYC.  STYC wants to extend our deepest gratitude to Shilshole Bay Yacht Club for their incredible stewardship of this series for the last four decades.  

Over the years, STYC and SBYC have forged a bond through shared values, overlapping membership, and collaborative events.  Our own Ballard Cup series started as a collaboration and SBYC started the Jack & Jill race in the 80s.  STYC is privileged that SBYC has asked us to carry on a race series with such a history and we look forward to carrying on the tradition that our friends at SBYC started all those years ago.  

For those unfamiliar with this race series, Snowbird is a race series that tests a sailor’s skills and resolve in conditions that are frequently challenging but always rewarding. They are races that temper and harden a sailor during the unpredictable, frequently frigid, winter season

STYC will maintain the SARC published dates for the 2025/2026 season set forth by SBYC, and we are honored to have SBYC members aboard the committee boat to help us celebrate the passing of this torch.  If you are interested in volunteering on the committee boat and being part of this tradition, please reach out to our team at volunteer@styc.org or vice-commodore@styc.org. 

To participate in this race series, a single registration will be good for all 5 races.  The cost will be free to STYC members, $50 for non-members, and a $25 late fee for any registrant not registered before midnight on the morning of 11/13/2025.
